Another vote for There Is A Light here, but Every Day is on its heels. I can understand some saying they didn't like The Smiths - they were one of those 'epiphany' bands, where you didn't take much notice and then you suddenly 'got' them and bought everything backwards and forwards.

There Is a Light, Sweet and Tender Hooligan, Back to the Old House (acoustic)
Morrissey solo - the Your Arsenal /Vauxhall and I albums were his pinnacle, but my god he's turned out a lot of dross, nowhere near the quality control of The Smiths period.
